Stand Down + LCH-Stand Down App
Stand Down was created to support veterans, active military personnel, and their families navigating PTSD, trauma exposure, emotional isolation, depression, anxiety, hypervigilance, survivor’s guilt, military transition struggles, and suicide risk. Written with compassion, realism, and deep respect for the experiences carried by service members, the book acknowledges the emotional and psychological weight many veterans continue to carry long after service ends.
The book recognizes that military trauma is not always visible. Many veterans return home carrying experiences that civilians may never fully understand, such as combat exposure, loss, constant alertness, moral injury, emotional suppression, difficulty reconnecting with civilian life, and the exhaustion of feeling like they always have to stay strong.
Rather than focusing on weakness, Stand Down centers resilience, emotional survival, healing, reconnection, and the importance of support without judgment or stigma.
Topics explored throughout the book include:
PTSD and combat-related trauma
Hypervigilance and nervous system overload
Depression, anxiety, and emotional numbness
Suicide prevention and crisis awareness
Survivor’s guilt and grief
Military-to-civilian transition struggles
Emotional isolation and relationship difficulties
Substance use and emotional coping
Anger, emotional suppression, and burnout
Rebuilding stability, trust, and emotional resilience
The companion LCH-Stand Down app expands on these supports through grounding exercises, emotional wellness tools, PTSD-focused coping strategies, calming resources, crisis support information, emotional check-ins, and veteran-centered mental wellness support designed specifically for military and veteran communities.
Together, Stand Down and the LCH-Stand Down app were created to provide practical support, emotional understanding, and accessible wellness tools for veterans and service members struggling with the invisible wounds of trauma and emotional survival.
At its core, Stand Down reminds veterans that asking for support is not weakness, it is part of survival, healing, and continuing forward with strength.
